Students, professors, and friends, good morning to you all

  As Dean of School of Foreign Languages, Shenyang Normal University, I feel so happy and proud to say a hello to you, and welcome you back home after a long and twilight struggle to know who you are and what you want to do in the years to come. So this is not only a welcoming ceremony, but a family reunion, not a celebration of personal success, but a time to thank our parents, our teachers, and our dreams, and also a ritual to realize our grand mission to cultivate the best young people with advanced knowledge of foreign languages and well-trained abilities to use them, and with a great love for our land, our people, and our nation.

  Since the day you came here with your tearful parents and hopes, we have felt that we were part of you before you are part of us, and we have been waiting for you, the new students, so long, almost 57 years, and also we have developed a confidence that you will become our pride in building our School into a leading institution of higher learning with our joint and redoubled efforts. And yet, we fully understand that all this cannot be done without the support of your aging parents who would enjoy bitter hardship in order to sweeten your future, and all this cannot be done without the hard work and professional devotion of your teachers from the primary school to the high school, and all this cannot be done without out academic and ethical encouragement to help you help yourselves in the coming four years. Maybe this grand mission might be too difficult for us to fulfill within the give time, but let us begin today.

  Students and teachers, it is a getting a little bit nosy outside, but it is quiet and clean here. As the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway says, everybody in the world is longing for a clean and quiet place for his soul. That is probably the reason why we are all here in Shenyang Normal University, because it is a cradle of dreams and dreamers.

老师们，同学们，朋友们，大家上午好！

作为沈阳师范大学外国语学院的院长，我很荣幸的问候大家。同学们经过漫长艰苦的努力回到梦想的家园，我对你们的到来表示热烈欢迎。你们将在这里认知自我成就未来。因此，今天的开学典礼不仅是一场欢迎仪式，也是一次家庭团聚；不但要庆祝你们自己的成功，还要感谢你们的父母、老师和我们共同的理想。此外，我们还要实现一个宏伟的目标，那就是将你们培养成热爱祖国、人民、具有深厚外语知识和娴熟应用技能的优秀外语人才。

你们离开依依不舍的父母，怀揣梦想来到外国语学院。在此之前，这里优秀的教学资源就期待着你们的到来，如今我们终于能够如愿以偿，与你们融为一体。我们期盼你们已经有五十七年了，我们坚信你们会成为我们的骄傲。我们将一起加倍努力，将外国语学院打造常高等教育界的领军团队。我们深知我们的这些梦想没有你们日益年迈的父母的帮助与支持，是完成不了的，他们为了你们美好的未来，经历了太多的艰辛与苦涩；我们的这些梦想没有你们中小学老师的奉献，也是完成不了的，他们兢兢业业，诲人不倦；我们的这些梦想更离不开大学里的专业培养和道德教育，而这些将会帮助你们在今后的四年里学会自立自强。也许在有限的时间里，完成这一伟大目标有些困难，但我们要从今天开始就努力奋斗。

老师们，同学们，外面有些吵闹，而这里却宁静而清新。美国著名作家欧内斯特·海明威曾说过：“每一个人都会为自己的心灵找一处明净之所。”这也是我们今天能够在沈阳师范大学相聚的原因所在，因为这里是梦想和追梦人的摇篮。
